Okay, ADSG readers– I know it’s not the normal Sunday time for posting, and it’s not even just a little delayed to Monday. It’s Tuesday and this week, life just got hectic. But, nonetheless, I have a fantastic review and giveaway for all of you!

Charles Luce began his line of mixes, and a bakeshop in NJ, after he was diagnosed with celiac in 2002 {boy, don’t I remember the days of hockey puck buns and crumbling “bread”} and launched a line of gorgeous,unique, and tasty artisan bread mixes in 2012. Each bread mix {Classic Sourdough, New Italian, Really “Rye”, Bold Buckwheat, OMG Flatbread, and others depending on the season} are simple– just add water.

(Okay, there are a few steps that go with that water adding process, like letting the bread rise, etc. but you catch the drift).

The breads come out of the oven with a fun crusty exterior (dusted with rice flour and a sight most celiac people have never seen), begging to be ripped apart and devoured.

Each mix was absolutely more delicious than the last. My favorite is definitely the New Italian, though a hard choice.

The only thing to be aware of–that messed me up–is to be careful the bag is not stuck on the dough when you bake it. Otherwise, like me, you may eat some paper with your bread.

Review of GF Mom Certified’s BYOC Cookbook

Blends by Orly Review

*Orly sent me two of her mixes for me to play with in the kitchen!*

Blends by Orly are a line of 1:1 replacement flour mixes, each with it’s own special purpose–think: cookie blend, bread blend, pie blend, etc. Orly designed 5 special blends–and I hit the kitchen with my mama to make our go-to chocolate chip banana cake using the Sydney Blend.

All we could say was WOW. The banana cake was light–the perfect spongey texture–and will definitely be our go-to flour in baking our signature recipe. The bag was resealable, which makes storage ideal, and can even be purchased on Amazon!

*Hint: instead of the standard liquid in your banana bread/cake mix, look for some left over yogurt or sour cream in your fridge–we had about 1/4 c. left of sour cream and mixed it with 1/2 c. water–just gave it a little special something in terms of flavor and texture!

Cello Whisps Review

Are you looking for the next greatest low carb snack? Well, I’ve found it. And–it’s available in a massive bag at Costco {AKA this couldn’t get better}.

After grabbing Cello Whisps big bag at Costco for the first time, I devoured these 100% parmesan crisps in about 5 servings instead of the marked ~17 servings on the label…oops. When you give a type 1 diabetic a bag of almost carb-free {1g/serving} chips…okay, well you catch the drift.

With one of the simplest ingredient labels ever, these “keto-friendly” snacks are 100% allergy friendly as well–though not dairy free, they are lactose free by way of hard cheeses like parmesan + cheddar having no lactose, and are otherwise free of all allergens.

I’m absolutely obsessed and don’t see myself removing them from my shopping list anytime soon! I can’t wait to try the cheddar version!

PS- They make great croutons too!

WARNING: you will never be able to eat just one “serving” of these, so buy plenty when you go to the store/order online!

Kitchfix Granola Review — Special Author!

When a huge box of Kitchfix granola {it’s paleo and many are whole 30 approved!} arrived at the door–and the new line of flavors, no less!– the most excited person in the house was not me, but in fact my younger sister!

Kitchfix is her favorite granola {eats it every day!} and as an integral part of my life, I decided to offer her the opportunity to write the review! As you all know, she’s an incredible gluten free baker and chef, as evidenced recently by the creative plates that show up on my IG every week {follow me here!}

Without further ado, here’s Ellory with a Kitchfix Granola review:


I am hooked on Kitchfix Granolas: all five flavors! 

The cocoa and sea salt granola was absolutely delicious. It has a rich cocoa flavor, which pairs wonderfully with the granola’s nutty-base and crunchy clusters. Personally, I do not love dried fruit, so I appreciate that this granola gives you energy and sustenance through wholesome, natural, and healthful fats, fiber, vitamins, and sweeteners such as maple syrup. I also appreciated that the sea salt did not dominate the cocoa flavor, nor detract or distract from the nuts’ and seeds’ flavors. 

The Honey Pecan granola is very subtle and tasty. I like that the flavor is based on pecans because not many granolas, especially paleo ones, take advantage of the numerous health benefits pecans can provide: 64% of the recommended daily amount of manganese, 279 mg of omega-3-fatty acids, and other properties which promote digestive health, heart health, bone and teeth health, and even aid in preventing muscle soreness in a one ounce serving. 

I found the Honey Pecan and Original granola to have a similar quality, yet were more neutral in flavor without the cocoa and salt. The Vanilla Berry was a perfect balance between the Original flavor and Honey Pecan, as it was nutty, slightly sweet, and mixed with freeze-dried berries rather than raisins or craisins. I did prefer the flavors without dried fruit, as the honey and maple syrup provided enough sweetness. Finally, the Lemon Berry Chia was very unique and aromatic! It was distinguishably citrusy, and thus, worked very well in plain Greek yogurt. 

I prefer all of the granolas broken into smaller clusters, rather than blocks or chunks, so before going in for seconds, I sealed up the bag and smashed it against the countertop a few times! Even though the granola isn’t noticeably too sweet, especially compared to many grain-based granolas, I think the majority of the flavors could benefit from less honey, which would also assist in making the granola more of a crumble rather than a block. Furthermore, if you plan on having two ounces, rather than one, the sugar content adds up rather quickly! Nevertheless, I very much enjoyed munching on the granola with some cottage cheese and a cup of coffee as a mid-morning snack, or as a dessert-like treat in yogurt!

First Fresh Foods Review

*First Fresh sent me product, without guarantee of review and without compensation. All opinions are my own, as always.*

When two boxes of First Fresh Chicken Sausages arrived at my door, packed on ice, I was super excited! I’ve been on a chicken sausage kick lately–especially at breakfast– for a low carb option now that eggs are out {read: ugh.}

With no fillers, MSG, hormones, preservatives, nitrates, gluten, or allergens {with a dedicated section on their website for GF recipes!}, this team is really starting to revolutionize the market.

The chicken sausages are not in pork casing {avoiding another less-common severe allergen and general confusing product thought}, plus the company makes things like meatballs, cutlets, and ground meat as well!

The ingredients are simple: chicken and spices, all of which are written out one-by-one. As someone who once had a severe oregano allergy, I so appreciate their transparency.

I grilled some Hot Italian sausages for my family the other evening, and they were beyond tasty. With a real kick and pure, delicious flavor, they’ll be a new staple around my home!

Celiac Haven: Mountain View, CA

As most of you know from my 140 character tidbits and endless photos {via Twitter/Instagram @breezygfreezy}, I just spent a week in Mountain View, CA to train for my new job! I expected to make a big grocery run {which I did, albeit a smaller run} for 3 meals a day while I was there–made easier by staying in an Air BnB with a kitchen!–I was pleasantly surprised to find that I was spending the week in the most incredible celiac haven, complete with restaurants abound and sunshine every single day.

Here are the places I was able to get to on my first of hopefully many trips!


  1. Farm Hill
    You know you work for a special company when your boss finds a spot that is not only gluten free, but 100% gluten free, for your first day’s lunch with the CEO. With incredible paleo options, I was able to get a great low carb chicken box with cauliflower rice and lots of tasty veggies! It was perfect, and not to mention stress-free as a completely Brianna-friendly facility! They were extremely accommodating of any allergen, and didn’t use any soybean oil in house. I got a little excited and forgot to take a picture–so here was my view during lunch on the rooftop!

  2. Oren’s Hummus
    I quickly learned that everywhere in Mountain View understood gluten free for a celiac, not just the fad. While this place is not 100% gluten free, the only gluten on the menu was the pita and the dessert! The fryer was canola oil, so you bet I indulged in some gluten free falafel! I went with the rest of my department and we ordered an amazing hummus plate to share as a table– the waiter brought a “gluten free basket” when everyone else got hummus…veggies! So fun, and so tasty!


  3. Asian Box
    Another 100% gluten free spot. I was floored. And not to mention, every place in my review was within 5 short blocks of our headquarters! I never get safe asian food–considering gluten, soybean oil, shellfish, most nuts, etc. appears in the majority of the cuisine. This place was completely aware of caring for allergies other than gluten, and it was so good I went twice! I was floored to have things like crispy shallots on top of my beef:) I think I could eat there every single day.


  4. Amici’s Pizza
    Despite the reviews on Find Me Gluten Free, I decided to check out the website for this pizzeria, and man am I glad I did. I have a feeling that after some rough reviews, this management team overhauled their GF protocol–now stated directly on the gluten free menu {see below}! I invited some of the team over for dinner and ordered in gluten free margharetia pizzas, chicken wings, and caesar salad {complete with soy-free caesar dressing!} for everyone, and we all loved and indulged. I felt like a college kid with my pizza and wings😉 PS- the crust is from Mariposa BakeryScreen Shot 2016-07-10 at 7.54.36 PM.png


*Bonus: Red Rock Coffee — this place is a non-profit coffee shop I found to visit every morning before work! Besides their delicious coffee and beautiful mission, they have lots of gluten free individually wrapped pastries, cold pressed juices, cheese sticks, and yogurts!

This city almost had me in tears every time I ate– I’ve never felt such peace, simplicity, and happiness. I ate out without fear. I never felt a hint of sickness. I am so grateful to each and every one of these establishments for making my visit so special, and for keeping me so safe. Until we meet again.

Ardenne Farm Cookie Mixes: Review and GIVEAWAY!

The bond I have with cookies is undeniable. Crunchy or soft, any Brianna-safe flavor, and I’ll gobble up at least 2 in a sitting {though BG is not always the happiest, cookies are an important part of life}.

After chatting with Ardenne Farm about all their mixes at GFAF Expo Chicago, we began our cookie-based relationship {though they do have other mixes, like cakes and brownies!} My sister and I whipped up a batch of plain oatmeal cookies {purity protocol oats!} and they were delectable! With a buttery flavor and without an overwhelming sugary aftertaste, these cookies were an absolute hit in my house {+ all mixes are dairy and egg free, just use appropriate replacements!} .
